Small change, big impact
Passecti stands for delicious, nutritious and healthy pasta, made from no less than 30% insects! Why? Because insects are the perfect source of food that we hardly know how to find in the Netherlands. Insects are super healthy and contain everything you need to replace meat, but with a low impact on the environment!
Eating Passecti is more than a meal, it is a step towards a sustainable and tasty future in which eating insects is very common. We do this because we believe in all the benefits of insects. But our mission goes further. We want to draw attention to the important role that insects play in our ecosystem, a role that is sometimes overlooked. That is why 5% of Passecti's profits go to the conservation of insects in the Netherlands.
My name is Vera Methorst and I am the face behind Passecti. My passion for insects started in high school, where I was breeding insects for my dissertation. During my studies in animal husbandry, I further developed this interest and even followed a minor in Entomology (insect science) in England to expand this knowledge.
As a graduation project, I chose to start my own business. With a lot of dedication and creativity I developed the recipe that is now known as Passecti.
Passecti did not just happen; it is the result of my personal search for a delicious way to incorporate insects into our food. Now I want to inspire and motivate others to join me in putting insects on the menu in a tasty way!
Insects are super healthy and also tasty if you prepare them properly! In addition, they have a smaller impact on the environment than the regular meat that is currently eaten. For example, less land, water and food are used per kg of protein for insects and they also emit fewer emissions. This makes them taste even better ;).
Everyone loves pasta! Adding insects changes almost nothing to the taste, but you do get extra health benefits. This makes it an accessible way to try eating insects.
Passecti consists of half mealworms and the other half of flour with the addition of a small pinch of salt. That is it! We believe in the power of natural products and believe that it is not necessary to add unnecessary ingredients.
We are currently still very busy with the latest quality tests to make the pasta extra tasty. When this is ready, we will notify you immediately so that you can be the first to taste the pasta!
